050623 sonnet A Sigh for Roman Cy
A Sigh for Roman Cy
The dandelions and poppies wave goodbye,
Our early morning train to Bari town,
Departing Rome we heave another sigh,
Recall Italian trips of past renown.
This year we leave old friends seen here before,
Infrequently, it’s sad, these last few years,
And new friends too this time, as we’ve made more,
Our parting wishes stifle goodbye tears.
A gala held in honor of success,
For thirty years they’ve widened student eyes,
A Midwest child grows wise, to sure impress,
Will answer parent’s questions with replies
Which catapult careers to see them through,
Their time in Rome, with love for ISU.
